California Legislative Coalition for Interior Design (CLCID) serves as the unified voice for the interior design profession in California. We are a legislative coalition that represents over 7,000 interior designers in issues that are important to our members and their practice. We monitor  legislation and advocate improvement of professional standards of Certification by the State of California. Through our legislative activities, we work with local government agencies to help protect the public health, safety, and welfare.

2006 Highlights:

As soon as we learned of a potential threat to our practice, CLCID launched an "Emergency Alert" to all Certified Interior Designers to attend The Division of the State Architect (DSA) "Certified Access Specialist Program" (CASp) Workshops in Del Mar and Sacramento.  Our strength in numbers at those workshops made a substantial impact on the DSA as we described the interior designers role in accessibility issues.

Bill 232 was Chaptered into law to extend the Sunset date of the Certified Interior Designers law from January 1, 2007 until January 1, 2008. This means that previously scheduled Sunset Review Joint Committee hearings for later this year will be postponed until next year.
